Vacation, summer, vacation... Dreamed, waited, coveted... And they are! And once with them a seasonal offer of treatments in the Amber Spa, prepared for our special guests. Summer is a special time for the skin. And despite the fact that we take a vacation from many things, we cannot do from daily care of the holiday. In this regard, Amber Spa has prepared a special, seasonal offer of treatments that will perfectly prepare the skin for holiday trips and help you enjoy summer tan and radiant skin for a long time. Below we present a detailed offer and a few rules to keep in mind.
Dust, exhaust gases, sebum, sweat, bacteria, we serve all this to our skin throughout the day. In the evening it is simply “dirty”. Poorly cleansed skin is a cause not only of irritation and imperfections, but also a barrier to nutrients that we apply in the form of creams or serums. Careful makeup removal is worth doing not only in the evening, but also in the morning, because during sleep impurities also accumulate on our skin.
Especially in summer, makeup removal should be done carefully, since during this period the sebaceous glands of the skin work more intensively, and the oily layer attracts impurities. There may be clogging of pores, the formation of comedones and exacerbation of acne.
Antioxidants are substances that help block the negative effects of free radicals, too much of which in the body causes faster aging of the skin, can lead to heart disease and even to the formation of skin cancers!
Antioxidants not only neutralize the action of oxidants, but also fight the harmful effects of their action. They improve the appearance of the skin — by lightening it and eliminating discoloration. Their impact is not to be overestimated, since they also firm the skin tissue and repair damage, for example caused by solar radiation.
The popular and strongest antioxidants are vitamin C and alpha-lipoic acid, but vitamin E, ferulic acid, coenzyme Q10, green tea extract or ginkgo biloba extract and acerola also have a very good antioxidant effect on our skin.
In the summer, it is worth using antioxidants contained in food.
A strong antioxidant effect is possessed by vitamins C, E, A, as well as flavonoids and carotenoids contained in fruits and vegetables of intense color. Carotenoids are primarily contained in yellow, orange and green vegetables and fruits (e.g. tomatoes, kale, spinach, nettle).
Anticancer flavonides, in turn, can be found in vegetables, fruits and nuts, bitter, natural cocoa. A very rich and completely underestimated source of antioxidants is beans — it has one of the higher ORAC rates, which determines the ability of a given product to neutralize oxidants.
Other antioxidants are found in: beets, parsley, strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, peaches, plums, apples, aroni, blueberries, blackcurrants, cranberries, acai berries. Cloves, cinnamon, oregano, turmeric and basil are also very valuable in terms of antioxidant content.
Summer is a very good time for... free radicals. They are formed in the skin under the influence of sunlight and cause damage to collagen fibers and destroy hyaluronic acid, i.e. the formation of wrinkles, loss of firmness, acceleration of aging.
Therefore, do not forget about antioxidants. Apply them both from the inside - with food and from the outside in the form of creams, serums or care treatments.
Do not be afraid of scrubs in the summer. We can use both enzymatic, mechanical peels and acids (here we exclude glycolic, salicylic or pyruvic acid, which in combination with the sun may result in discoloration). Lactic acid is perfect - ideal for dry and dehydrated skin, mandelic acid - perfectly normalizes skin prone to oily, blackheads and acne, and azelaic acid calms erythema and counteracts hyperpigmentation.
Before taking a sun bath, be sure to do a peeling of both face and body. The skin will be smoother, and the tan more durable and even.
Summer promotes dehydration of the skin and loss of elasticity through it. UV radiation, wind, as well as sea water, pool water, sand, dust or temperature destroy the skin's hydrolipid barrier and disturb its balance.
If we lead to dehydration of dry skin, then our skin may look gray, tired and may also peel off. Oily skin, on the other hand, can be even more oily, because the sebaceous glands will want to “overproduce” sebum to protect our skin from a complete cataclysm.
So how to hydrate the skin? Before all, you need to drink water. If we do not irrigate from the inside, external care will not help much. The task of cosmetics is to bind and retain water molecules in the skin, but they do not have the ability to “force” water into the skin. It must be delivered there by drinking, otherwise the care may prove ineffective.
Drink water- this is the basis of well-being and skin care for the face and body.
In addition, moisturize the skin with cosmetics specially designed for this.
Sunscreen is the best anti-aging cosmetic!
Harmful radiation accelerates skin aging, and “attacks” our skin not only during sunbathing, but also in the shade, car or office.
To begin with, a tip on how to decipher the abbreviations SPF 10, 30, 50, etc.
The abbreviation SPF defines the ability of sunscreen cream or lotion, while the following number indicates the height of the filter. It indicates how many times longer the skin of the body and face can be exposed to sunlight after applying the cosmetic product, compared to the time of exposure to the sun without the cosmetic. A sunscreen or lotion with SPF 50 therefore means that the skin of the body can remain exposed to the sun (UV radiation) 50 times longer than the safe exposure time, which is 20 minutes (this time depends on skin complexion and can be significantly reduced in fair-skinned people).
When buying a sunscreen, first of all, determine what protection your skin requires. It is safest to choose products with a filter above 10 SPF. They will be suitable for people with breakfast complexions, dark hair and eyes, who sunbathe quickly, and their skin immediately acquires a nice brown color. However, if your complexion is light, you have blond or red hair, and sun exposure is often associated with redness and burns, choose creams with a factor above 20 SPF.
Particularly exposed to the harmful effects of sunlight are people with a high content of pheomelanin in the skin, who have moles and discoloration. They should use creams containing filters above 30 SPF, which should further protect the skin from UVA (ultraviolet A) radiation.
Apply the first layer of cream to the skin, at least 15 minutes before going out in the sun - this is enough time for the cream to be thoroughly absorbed. Subsequent layers of the cream should always be applied after leaving the water or wiping with a towel, as the protective filter may clash.
Apply filters several times a day and do not forget about the hands, ears and feet, which are constantly exposed to sunlight.
